Newsmax's 2025: Still Racist, Still Hypocritical, Still Clueless About AI

Alright, let's talk about Newsmax. Again. Because apparently, they're still around in 2025, doing... whatever it is they do.

Newsmax: Same Song, 2025th Verse

So, Newsmax is heading to the RBC Capital Markets Global Technology, Internet, Media & Telecommunications Conference in NYC in November '25. Big whoop. CEO Christopher Ruddy will be there, schmoozing with the best of 'em. They'll be talking about Newsmax's "reach" and how they're a "news powerhouse."

Give me a break. A news powerhouse that gets punked by AI-generated garbage? A news powerhouse whose hosts are still pushing racist garbage?

Oh, yeah, let's not forget that little gem from way back when, when some Newsmax host went on a rant about SNAP recipients using their benefits to "get their weaves" done. We all know what that's code for, right? Subtle as a sledgehammer. And offcourse, completely detached from reality. The average SNAP benefit ain't gonna cover a decent weave, unless you're rocking that synthetic special from the dollar store.

And the hypocrisy? Off the charts. Remember when Rick Santorum had to walk back Kevin Roberts' defense of Tucker Carlson platforming Nick Fuentes, the antisemite? Santorum, bless his heart, tried to play it like Roberts "just sort of missed it a little bit." Missed it? He practically gave it a standing ovation.

The AI Debacle: Fooled Again!

But the real kicker is how easily these guys get duped by AI. Fox News fell for it, too, but Newsmax was right there with them, spreading fake videos of SNAP beneficiaries supposedly threatening to ransack stores.

Newsmax and RBC Conference: What's the Deal?

Seriously?

And then they had to retract the story, admitting the videos were likely AI-generated. You'd think a "news powerhouse" would have some basic fact-checking skills, but apparently not. Maybe they should invest in some AI detection software. Or, you know, just hire journalists who aren't completely clueless.

It's tempting to say they're just victims of circumstance, that AI is so advanced now that anyone can be fooled. But let's be real, their eagerness to believe the worst about certain groups probably clouds their judgment. They want to believe these things, so they don't bother checking the facts. It's called confirmation bias, folks, and it's a hell of a drug.

I saw that even Meta's AI guru, Yann Lecun, apparently posted an AI-generated video of an NYPD officer telling ICE agents to "back off." Was he being sarcastic? Who knows? But it just shows how pervasive this stuff is becoming.

So, what's the solution? More "guardrails" on AI? Trump's suggestion to just blame everything on AI? I ain't holding my breath.

Maybe the problem isn't the AI itself, but the people who are so willing to believe the lies it generates. And Newsmax, sadly, seems to be at the top of that list.

So, What Else is New?
